PhosphorList

A lightweight TUI utility written in C that lists all installed applications and packages on your system, then lets you search, favourite and launch them from the keyboard.

PhosphorList in a terminal, with ffmpeg selected in a long command list and its description in the right pane.

PhosphorList is a fast, keyboard-driven way to browse the commands found in $PATH, in the spirit of lazygit, fzf and yazi.

Commands sit in ALL and FAV tabs, favourites persist between runs, and pressing Enter runs a command after asking for its arguments.

Nothing happens until you ask

There is no background polling and no timers, and the screen redraws only when state changes. The aim is instant response even with thousands of commands.

Expensive work is explicit

Descriptions come from whatis and only load when you press d. Results are cached in memory, and there is no automatic preview to slow navigation down.

Small modules

The event loop, rendering, command discovery, favourites and sorting each live in their own C file.
